About

NSW PRS Services suggested that discussing Outpatient Clinics and Management could be an interesting topic to discuss at a CHA meeting in 2024, as it may generate helpful discussions relevant to all the paediatric services.

Below are a serious of questions that the NSW Services will lead to generate discussion, sharing of practices and learnings to support outpatient clinics.

  1. Briefly outline any current waitlist management processes for your outpatient clinics.
Is this an issue for your service, if so, what strategies are employed to assist with waitlists?
  2. Do any services send out a questionnaire to families / patients prior to gather information, if so what types of questions are on the questionnaire?
Are these sent to just new families or prior to each appointment?
What platform is used to complete any questionnaires? E.g. Redcap/QARS.
Who is your service managing these to ensure they are completed?
  3. How do services decide/determine how frequently patients are seen, rebooked? How is the recommended timeframe determined?
Do services have any criteria to assist with clinical decision making around recommended timeframes when patients are rebooked, or does this depend upon the doctor, or family?
  4. How do services book follow-up appointments?
Do services ask families to call to re-book follow up appointments?
Do services book the appointments for the families at the time or appointment or later date?
  5. How do services conduct their clinics, do you have routine questions that are asked?
