Justin Kenardy is Emeritus Professor at the University of Queensland and a Clinical Health Psychologist who specialises in early and preventative intervention following trauma, including medical trauma. He has published over 300 books, chapters and papers. He is known for his interdisciplinary research work on the psychological aspects of traumatic injury, which is situated at the intersection of psychology, mental health, and physical health including the development and application of preventative, integrative and novel intervention approaches.

About
Hospital-based healthcare aims to promote the best health outcomes for children, this should include mental health outcomes. Yet we know that children can be at risk of poorer mental health outcomes even with good physical health outcomes.
In this presentation Emeritus Professor Justin Kenardy will describe the how often these outcomes occurs, some reasons why, and research into what can be done to promote better mental health outcomes.
