Paediatric Refugee Health Conference 2019 - The Children's Hospital at Westmead

The Children's Hospital at Westmead is holding a Paediatric Refugee Health Conference on August 23rd, 2019. If you are a health professional, NGO caseworker, or interested in refugee and asylum seeker health issues, this one-day event will be a great opportunity for you. 

There will be a range of speakers, including Kerryn Phelps, famous sports person, SBS commentator and Amnesty International Ambassador Craig Foster as well as human rights lawyers and reputable clinical experts in this field. 

The morning will discuss the harm that detention causes to the health of children and in the afternoon the conference will examine a range of refugee health topics relevant to child refugees and their families. Late in the afternoon BAFTA award winning filmmaker Heather Kirkpatrick will show a preview screening of her latest documentary “Against our Oath”. The film looks at offshore detention and the conflicted position that health care professionals find themselves in.
