Children’s Healthcare Australasia recently joined with the Climate and Health Alliance to support initiatives calling for international and local action in support for climate change action to protect and promote human health. Two key initiatives we are pleased to have supported include:

Call to strengthen Australian environmental laws to prevent further public health crises:

On Monday, May 25, 2020, CHA united with over 180 medical professionals & leading health organisations to release an open letter to Environment Minister Sussan Ley to warn the federal government that we must review the EPBC Act 1999 and strengthen our environmental laws to prevent further public health crises.  This was an initiative of the Climate and Health Alliance,  in partnership with Doctors for the Environment Australia (DEA) and signatories included Nobel Laureate Professor Peter Doherty and former Australian of the Year Professor Fiona Stanley.
