KIDZMED is a programme developed for multidisciplinary teams to teach children and young people how to swallow pills. It was set up at the Great North Children’s Hospital, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK and has won the NHS Sustainability Award, the HSJ Value Award and the Bright Ideas in Health Award. We know that pills are cheaper, safer, and better for the environment than liquid medication. We have developed a 15-minute e-learning session for healthcare professionals, using an evidence-based, six-step technique.

Consumer Engagement in Action: Building a Family Support Program for families affected by paediatric sepsis
Improving Value in Healthcare
Alana English and Meagan O’Keefe, Advanced Social Workers with the Queensland Paediatric Sepsis Program (QPSP), will share details of the QPSP Family Support Program. This program is an evolving model of care that aims to provide key resources and support to the child and family at all points of their sepsis journey. A key strength of the program is that it is co-designed by consumers and, in part, delivered by consumers to offer support to all parents and carers who have been affected by sepsis, across Australia.

Parkville Electronic Medical Record Diversity and Inclusion Project
Leading Thinkers Series
The Parkville Electronic Medical Record Diversity & Inclusion Project run by the Parkville Precinct, was a 12-month initiative that updated patient systems to capture gender identity, legal sex, sex at birth, sexual orientation, pronouns and chosen name in the EMR. Hospital team members could then access this information to better support and provide care for patients who are members of the LGBTIQA+ community, improving safety, wellbeing and the consumer experience. This project is the first of its kind in Victoria where a collective of health services has come together and improved its medical records to better meet the needs of the LGBTIQA+ community. Our presentation will highlight the comprehensive implementation, delivery, and workflow of Diversity and Inclusion in EPIC.

Amplifying the child’s voice when interests elide
Clinical Ethics
In this case-based presentation, we hope to consider the ethical issues arising from the disclosure of life-limiting diagnoses in the paediatric setting. We hope to consider how we might recognise parents with high anxiety wishing to control information flow, and support these families early and better, and then perhaps socialise this approach in institutions and in the wider community.

This web conference will describe the process for developing a consensus statement of recommendations to optimise respiratory health in children with CP, and the key ingredients in implementing recommendations into practice.
