The focus of this web conference is on Smileyscope for paediatric pain management at Box Hill Hospital.
Box Hill Hospital has recently started to use Smileyscope as a tool for procedural pain management. Smileyscope is an innovative evidence-based virtual reality headset that reframes real world sensations of painful procedures in the VR world in a way that is supporting, engaging and relaxing. It aims to reduce the fear, anxiety and pain around routine procedures, improving the experience for children and their families and healthcare staff.
These presentations will delve into:
- The Why? (What spurred the change to Smileyscope)
- How the paediatric department are using it?
- What has been the impact? (Feedback from both staff and families)
- The challenges of its use
About the presenters:
Leanne Virgona is a Nurse Unit Manager and Amanda Fogarty is a Registered Nurse at
Box Hill Hospital. They will be joined by Vanessa Carslake who is the Business Development Specialist at Smileyscope AU.
