Person-Centered Care: Not a Nice to Have, a NEED to Have - Planetree International - 10 March 2022 at 10:30am (AEDT)
This session will introduce critical elements of a culture of patient and family engaged care, a logical sequencing for implementation, and to provide practical examples and solutions for organizations focused of supporting person-centered care approaches and culture.
Concepts and tools will be introduced to help healthcare organizations deliver the highest quality person- centered care rooted in kindness, compassion and respect.
Attendees will learn how person-centered care strategies and programs help organizations make their caring visible, especially during difficult times. The presentation will highlight how organizations can work with patients, families and communities while prioritizing staff well-being. The results are a lived experience of empathy and compassion that nurtures and honours all.

Karin Jay joined Planetree in June 2011, where she is working to expand the network of Planetree Affiliates internationally, and provide consultation to key stakeholders on the implementation of Planetree’s relationship-centered model of care and international certification criteria. Prior to joining Planetree, Karin spent 22+ years working in the accreditation and international quality/patient safety arena with The Joint Commission and Joint Commission International (JCI).
Karin has been a contributing author on several publications focused on accreditation, patient-centered care, and patients’ rights. Karin holds a Master of Arts in Philosophy and Healthcare Ethics from Loyola University, Chicago,and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
